Juliet Benson came from one of the perfect families in Chicago. Her parents kept secerts very well hidden, even from their only daughter. To the world she was the classic good girl: perfect grades, perfect looks, the perfect boyfriend and the so called perfect life. At least untill last year when she was raped by a former flame

The only times she found peace was at the movie theater or the video store, having found a passion for movies. She worked to make herself happy in spite of her family having more money than they knew what to do with. But she could see the damage it was doing to her parents and wanted no part of that life for herself. That was when science got added to her passions, having found solace in CSI and finding out that besides having talent as an actress she has a knack for science.

But the night of a freak ice storm set her free in more ways than one, her parents died in a freak car crash caused by what people figured was a patch of black ice. Within months of the wreck she lands in LA, living with her lawyer aunt and PI uncle. She loves her parents deeply but knows they hid things for a reason. But even now Juliet has her questions and she wants answers. Besides, after both losing her parents and being attacked she has every good reason. There's one more slice to the puzzle: finding out her rapist was accepted to NYU, which had been her first choice.

After all these months she still has serious doubts as to what happened. Juliet has a feeling that something besides ice was to blame but what? She only knew one thing: she would have to find out what was behind the accident and to escape the family shadows. Science and crime scenes were her new passion and it shows. Just one look at her aunt and uncle's TIVO unit would show everything from CourtTV to epsiodes of CSI. Her new dream is simple: to become a real CSI.

Nobody knows her within the city and she likes it that way. Juliet only wanted to start fresh and not be known for being a black ice survivor(since only a close few know the rest of the story). But she comes here with one other mission: to maybe find someone who shares her passion for science and justice. She has the passion for science along with the grades: but will anyone see the real Juliet Benson?
